Reimbursement of the Tuition Fee

You can get your tuition fee reimbursed, if you paid too much.

  • Solely the listed reasons for a reimbursement are accepted!

Processing of applications can take several weeks, apply as soon as possible. You will be notified about the outcome of your application and possible further steps via e-mail to your u:account e-mail address (webmail.univie.ac.at).

 

Reasons for a Reimbursement

  • You have closed your degree programme at the University of Vienna before the start of the semester and are not admitted to degree programme at another Austrian university for which you have to pay tuition fee.
  • You have completed your degree programme or section of your degree programme before the end of the extended admission period (date of the last exam) and are not admitted to a degree programme at the University of Vienna or another Austrian university for which you have to pay tuition fee.
  • You have closed your degree programme before the end of the extended admission period of the current semester. You must not have participated in an exam, have not submitted an academic paper for grading and may not be admitted at another Austrian university for a degree programme.
  • After payment of your tuition fee your application for a leave of abscence has been granted.
  • After payment of your tuition fee, your application for remission of the tuition fee has been granted.
  • You have paid too much tuition fee. The difference can be reimbursed.
  • You have paid too little tuition fee and have lost admission at the University of Vienna. The entire fee can be reimbursed.

 

 

 Required Documents

 Deadlines

  • for the winter semester: until the following 31 March
  • for the summer semester: until the following 30 September

 

If you submit the completed and signed form after the deadline, your application for reimbursement will be rejected without exception (a reimbursement is not possible in that case).

If you apply for reimbursement in time and some of the required documents of proof are missing you will be given a set period of time to submit these missing documents.

Application

Step 1:

Enter your bank account data in u:space > Personal Matters > Personal Data. Bank transfer is only possible if your bank account data has been entered anew and the data is correct.

Step 2:

Send the application with all required documents via e-mail to erlass.rueckerstattung.zulassung@univie.ac.at. The postal address and fax number can be found in the application form.

Reimbursement of the Students' Union Fee

The Students' Union Fee will be transfered to the Austrian students' union and does not stay at the University of Vienna.

For a reimbursement of the students' union fee, you have to apply directly at the ÖH.

Application is possible, if one of the following applies to you:

  • You have completed or discontinued your degree programme and are not admitted to an Austrian university.
  • You have paid the students' union fee for the same semester at the University of Vienna and at another Austrian university/Fachhochschule.

 

 

 

If you paid the students' union fee twice at the University of Vienna, only one payment will be transfered to the Austrian students' union. In this case you have to apply for a reimbursement at the University of Vienna as described above.
